Sportskn Founder Jarrad Butler, is best known as a professional Rugby player, born in New Zealand, raised in Australia, and now living in Ireland.

As a professional athlete for over a decade, Jarrad Butler played over 50 games for the ACT Brumbies in Australia, before moving abroad to Connacht in the west of Ireland, where he has played over 100 games, and captained the team for three of his six seasons. At age 31, Sportskn is a new venture that aims to bring his business vision to the Irish Sports Market.

A Fresh Start in Ireland

After relocating to Ireland from Australia, founder Jarrad Butler noticed a country that was rapidly embracing health and wellness in a way that felt exciting and full of opportunity. That growing culture of fitness and self-care sparked the idea for a skincare brand built around recovery, natural ingredients, and the needs of people living active lifestyles.

The Research Begins

With the vision taking shape, Jarrad began conversations with Irish and European dermatologists and cosmetic laboratories. The focus was on understanding how recovery-based skincare could genuinely support athletes and active individuals. From the very beginning, the goal was to create products grounded in both science and nature.

In 2020, the aloe vera skin recovery gel was developed by SportSkn for muscle recovery after exercise

First Formulation

After years of research, collaboration, and testing alongside skincare professionals, the first sample of the Sportskn Skin Recovery Gel was developed. It was a significant milestone that proved the concept and set the direction for everything that followed.

In 2022, the High Performance Shower gel was developed by SportSkn, and the Recovery Gel was refined

Refined and Expanded

Through continuous development and feedback, the fifth and current formulation of the Skin Recovery Gel was finalised, delivering the performance and quality the brand had been working towards. Alongside it, the Sportskn High Performance Shower Gel was also developed, expanding the product range and reinforcing the brand's commitment to natural post-workout care.

In 2023, SportSkn continued expanding it's skincare line for active people who need to heal their muscles after exercise

Officially Irish

Sportskn Skincare was officially registered as a cosmetic Irish company. It was a proud and meaningful step that cemented the brand's identity, its roots in Ireland, and its dedication to producing high-quality natural skincare products.

The SportSkn website selling post exercise skincare products officially went live

Launch and Brand Ambassadors

sportskn.ie went live, bringing Sportskn's natural recovery products directly to customers for the first time. To mark the occasion, Bundee Aki and Sene Naoupu joined as brand ambassadors, aligning the brand with the values of performance, recovery, and wellbeing at the highest level of sport.

In 2025, SportSkn introduced the sugar and coffee face scrub created with natural ingredients

Growing the Range

Two new face scrubs were launched, broadening the Sportskn lineup and giving customers more ways to care for their skin before and after exercise. Brenda Grealis also came on board as a brand ambassador, further strengthening the brand's presence and credibility in the health and fitness community.

The journey is far from over. New products are currently in development and set to launch soon, with each one staying true to the same commitment to natural ingredients, recovery, and real results that has guided Sportskn from the very beginning.
